Micro Controller Units (MCUs) contain program memory in EPROM, EEPROM, or FLASH technology. Some controllers require directly programming the memory via a parallel or serieal interface, others load the data with a bootstrap program. GALEP supports both methods. New controllers contain a JTAG interface that is suited not only for transferring, but also for on-chip-debugging the program. Because the JTAG interface is standardized, you can use it for programming devices that are not listed in the device list (see JTAG for details).
