  Gamestudio A8!
July 30, 2010 The long awaited revolutionary new version is finally there! A8 gets rid of many legacy libraries of previous versions and replaces them by new technologies. It introduces the PhysX engine for physic, Enet for networking, and portals for rendering. The A8 engine supports up to 200000 entities per level and uses the graphics hardware for animation, physics and bitmap processing. Still, A8 is compatible to its predecessors and can run most A6 and A7 projects (except for physics). The upgrade from A7 to A8 is available in the online shop.
  Gamestudio version 7.84...
April 20, 2010 ...introduces FTP and HTTP functions for updating levels from a server or accessing online databases; Unicode support for all character fonts in the world; an icon editor for published executables; a new racing template; and many other new and improved engine and editor functions. The DirectX version was changed to August 2009, which fixes some DirectX bugs and gives a better performance. The update to 7.84 is available on the user forum for a public beta test.
  Gamestudio version 7.82
January 8, 2010 This version contains many improvements to the level and model editors, socket communication, new libraries, and many new and improved engine functions. The commercial edition now supports bones weights. There is also an unrestricted free edition that contains WED and supports radiosity lightmapping.   Gamestudio version 7.80 released
August 25, 2009 This version comes with the new GED ingame editor, improvements for the level and model importers, the begin of a lite-C library with endless terrain and vegetation functions, a screensaver example, functions for remote controlling external programs, maximize and resize features for the engine window, new angle/matrix/quaternion functions, as well as many other new features of the engine and editors. June 2, 2009 The new version contains a new terrain radiosity lightmapper, as well as many improvements for shaders and engine functions. WED and MED now use a new graphics library that is Vista Aero compatible. Version 7.77 is 100% compatible to its predecessors and available on the download page.

February 10, 2009 Ataric lite-C version 1.7 comes with new MED tools, improved bitmap functions, improved text functions, model/sprite creation commands, decal shadows, wide screen support, realtime terrain deformation, and many more new engine features and commands.   Delphi SDK for version 7.66 uploaded
January 27, 2009 A new SDK for programming games and plugins in Delphi is now available on the Download Page. The SDK supports Delphi 2009 and all features of the latest A7 engine. The SDK is written and maintained by the forum user LazyDog.

December 27, 2008 A French Gamestudio forum and website is now open under the URL http://3dgamestudio.free.fr. It was created and maintained by Yvan Grobon. The french AUM issues were translated by the forum user Gandalf.
  Gamestudio 7.60 released
December 1, 2008 Gamestudio A7 7.60 was released last week. It contains many new features such as an improved map compiler, WiiMote® support, improved multiplayer mode with compression and encryption, isometric views, new Truetype text functions, unlimited textures for shaders and terrains, and many new or improved engine functions. Version 7.60 is 100% compatible to its predecessors.

October 20, 2008 A Polish Gamestudio website was released under the URL http://3dgamestudio.pl. The website, Polish versions of the manuals and tutorials and the Polish forum are maintained by Jacek Greczyszyn, our reseller in Poland.
  Gamestudio version 7.50 released
September 9, 2008 Gamestudio A7 7.50 was released yesterday. Version 7.50 comes with many new features such as an improved map compiler, improved shaders, normal mapping for level blocks, model lightmap import, monitor selection for multi-monitor systems, improved hit detection, and many new or improved engine functions.
  Hi-Res Texture collection
September 2, 2008 A high-resolution replacement for the Gamestudio standard.wad file is now available in the online shop. All surface textures were carefully remade in true color and double resolution, with normal maps for normal and specular bump mapping. Just replace the standard.wad file with this file and greatly improve the look of your levels!
  T7 Game engine source code uploaded
August 12, 2008 The full source code to the T7 game engine, the AI/template wrapper of the A7 engine, is now available with a Pro Edition password on our download page. The T7 documentation can be found in the Gamestudio manual or Online Manual.
  Commercial Student License available
August 7, 2008 Students working with the Gamestudio Team Edition at school can now get a full personal Commercial Edition at a reduced price. The upgrade from a school's team edition to a full Commercial Edition is available in the Team Edition section of the online shop.

July 8, 2008 The new Gamestudio/A7 version 7.10 is now available on the download page. Version 7.10 contains a new decal manager, an FBX importer for whole levels, a much faster light mapper with radiosity support, view postprocessing, a huge shader collection, a new interactive shader viewer, a faster lite-C compiler, tons of new engine functions, and the new A7 template system with the T7 game engine.   125,000 Gamestudio users
March 27, 2008 This month the 125000th Gamestudio copy was sold since the first release in 1995. The A7 version sold more copies since its 2007 release than its A6 predecessor in its whole lifetime. We do not know the owner of the 125000th copy or whether he purchased it from oP group, Sybex or another publisher. But we know that we owe this success to our very creative user community!

July 10, 2007 A 30 days trial version of Gamestudio/A7 is now available on the download page. Further features to A7 will be added in frequent free updates.
  Gamestudio Version 6.60 available!
May 21, 2007 The Gamestudio V6.60 free update was released today. This version features a faster renderer, a shader library, a record/replay function, an improved debugger, and lots of new functions. V6.60 replaces V6.50 that was pulled due to a collision detection bug.
  A7 announced
January 29, 2007 A7, the successor to the A6 engine, will be released in 2007. A7 uses a new rendering kernel that is based on an Adaptive Binary Tree (ABT). Outdoor levels with a lot of entities render remarkably faster with A7. The ABT offers also other advantages, like an unlimited number of dynamic lights, and unrestricted geometry import in WED. Both WED and MED will support the FBX format for import and export. A7 supports the new lite-C scripting language, but is still able to run A6 projects.

While the A7 release date is not yet determined, a free A7 upgrade is included in any currently delivered A6 Extra, Commercial, Pro, or Team Edition.
  Lite-C available
January 25, 2007 Lite-C is a new lightweight language for creating multimedia or graphics applications, especially 2D and 3D computer games. Due to its native support of multimedia objects like sounds, images, movies, GUI panels, game levels, 2D and 3D models you can achieve results with a few lines in lite-C that would require hundreds of source code lines with other C/C++ compilers. And the best: lite-C is free! Download it from the lite-C page.

December 23, 2005 The update to GameStudio version 6.40.0 is now available for a public beta test on the Gamestudio forum. Gamestudio updates are free. Version 6.4 features a chunked terrain system for huge landscapes, texture compression, a greatly improved model editor, multiple materials and shaders per model, a project manager, and more than 100 new functions and engine features.

  New SDK for A6
November 20, 2004 The new Source Development Kit for creating plugins for V6.31 is faster and a lot easier to use than the old A5 SDK. It also offers a lot more possibilites for DirectX, like access to model and terrain meshes at rendering time. The SDK is open source like it's predecessor. A sample DLL source is included. The new SDK is available on the download page.
  Driving Academy reaches 100,000
October 15, 2004 The 3D Driving Academy series by Besier 3D-Edutainment has reached a total amount of 100.000 retail units sold in Europe at a retail price of around $40 per unit. This makes it the most successful GameStudio application ever created.
